JOHN MULLIN, PRESIDENT
John Mullin also has a life-long commitment to the construction industry. Having graduated from San Diego State University with high honors and academic distinction in 1972 with a degree in business management, John joined Mullin & Mitchell, Inc., a closely-held painting and drywall company. From 1972 to 1980, John directed the estimating, business development, cost control, cost accounting, and financial planning for the company while concurrently serving the industry in such capacities as the President of the Southern California Drywall Contractors Association, Director of the California Drywall Contractors Association, Trustee of the Drywall Information Trust Fund, Trustee of the Drywall Industry Training and Education Committee, and Chairman of the San Diego County Labor Negotiating Committee.
In 1975, Mullin & Mitchell started a multi-faceted real estate development and construction business. From 1975 to 1990, John presided over a number of closely held corporations and partnerships that developed residential, commercial and industrial properties in San Diego and Riverside Counties. As a residential subcontractor signatory to union agreements, Mullin & Mitchell ceased its paint and drywall operations in 1980, and the construction operations were phased out in 1992.
In 1995, John joined the American Design team and was named President in December, 2001. Having known the principals of the company since the 70s and having been a customer and client of American Design in the 80's, John is in a unique position to insure the principals of quality and service the foundation upon which the company was built will continue into the future.
